Vega: Well Known Pleasures

The first post of Sey Something went a little something like this… GHOSTHUSTLER AMAZING CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THESE GUYS! Sadly they broke up, but front man Alan Palomo stayed the course with his new project VEGA. It’s a 80’s revival of sorts that continues to sound like Ghosthustler if they had a baby with Cut Copy. Aside from the vocals Well Known Pleasure sounds like a b-side to In Ghost Colours. Here is the newest song by Vega via Gorilla vs. Bear.

Backwords: The Buffalo Still Roam

Backwords sent me a request on MySpace and when I found out their album was available for free I couldn’t pass up the chance to pick it up. That wasn’t a bad idea because it is a great album. Soul Blues and Americana are what they describe themselves as and that is not that far off. Hailing from Brooklyn these guys are the reason I love bands. They are the exact reason music is still alive. When everything is shrouded in electronics and dj’s people lose sight of what started it all. Here is the album titled “The Buffalo Still Roam”. Enjoy!

We Swim: You Jump

Filed under: Europe, Indie, Netherlands, Pop, We Swim You Jump — seysomething @ 8:45 am January 23, 2009

Groningen, Netherlands is the home of this 5 piece Indie/Pop band We Swim You Jump. It’s perfect for those Fall or Winter nights driving during fresh snow fall. Something that will warm you up more than a cup of hot chocolate. The slight accent in the singer gives it a extra sound that a band from the states could never have. Here are two songs from their self-titled EP. Enjoy and support the band by buying their EP.

Scion: I Have A Vision

Filed under: Erin Martin, Roy Davis Jr., Scion — seysomething @ 8:45 am

Scions newest release is a new song by Roy Davis ft. Erin Martin called “I Have A Vision”. It’s minimal tech/house that is easy to get into. It’s a whopping 7:35 which is too long in my judgment, but the remixes are what make this release special. Fred Falke, The Juan Maclean and Todd Edwards. Each remix has a unique style and I have to say Fred Falke’s remix has to be my favorite. It sounds like it could have been a b-side to Ladyhawke’s album. Enjoy!

I Love You, Man & Miss March

Filed under: I Love You Man, Miss March, Paul Rudd, The Whitest Kids You Know — seysomething @ 8:03 am

They were great together in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and they have worked on Knocked Up together. Now they have their own Bromance that looks hilarious. Here is the red band trailer for you to see what I mean. Enjoy!

Miss March is made by two of The Whitest Kids You Know and it is slap stick fun. A lot of things where people are being hurt, but that is some good comedy. Where I Love You, Man has more of a adult theme, Miss March has a lot of young actors making their big screen debut. Check out the trailer!

Suburban Kids With Biblical Names: New EP

Filed under: Labrador, Suburban Kids With Biblical Names, The Sound of Arrows — seysomething @ 12:00 pm January 22, 2009

Sweden’s Suburban Kids With Biblical Names haven’t released any new material in over 3 years. Their new 4 track EP titled “4″ will be released on February 4th. They have made the song “1999″ available to give everyone an idea of what they have been working on in the last couple years. All I have to say is that if you live in Sweden and in Stockholm make sure you see them and fellow label mates The Sound of Arrows at Debasir Medis on Jan. 30th. Just to get a chance to hear the new songs. A note about the EP from the band

The new EP will not be entirely in swedish. The only track in our native tongue on #4 is “Studenter på flak”.

Enjoy!

Doors open at 9pm and it is 18 and up. This is their first show of 2009 and make sure you don’t miss it. SNL: Neil Patrick Harris

Filed under: Doogie Howser M.D., Neil Patrick Harris, SNL, Saturday Night Live — seysomething @ 1:40 am

I just wanted an excuse to tag Neil Patrick Harris. He is the best one on How I Met Your Mother, he was so good in both Harold and Kumar movies. He hosted the magic awards the last couple years and now that he has hosted SNL everyone should know how damn funny he is. If you don’t then watch the video above and leave a comment.
