Taking a break until I can figure out why my box account is messed up. I will probably post later today, but sey something is down for construction for now.

MIX SOMETHING VOLUME 2!!

Filed under: Mix Something Volume Two, Sey Something — seysomething @ 6:47 pm March 28, 2008

As I said earlier in the week and have finally promised I have a new mix for you. It’s Mix Something Volume 2! I definitely did a better job on this one I know that myself. The sound is better and it flows a little better. Check out the track list and download it for yourself below. If you download it leave a comment. Let me know what you thought. Negative and positive. Thanks! Enjoy! I know the picture above isn’t the best, but I did it while listening to the mix after it was done and immediately posted it here.

Plugs, Yeah?

Filed under: Does It Offend You Yeah, Friendly Fires, Plugs, The Envy Corps — seysomething @ 8:10 am March 27, 2008

Anyone who regularly reads Sey Something knows that I go bonkers over Does It Offend You, Yeah? Could be one of my favorite bands and I am proud to say it. The reason I am bringing them up is because lead singer of DIOYY, Morgan Quaintance, has another band I have officially become obsessed with and want more of. The are called Plugs and have a post-rave, psychedelic, dance sound that I love. The Yuksek remix changes the song completely. Check them out yourself below.

The first time I heard the Friendly Fires was on DJ Elhaam’s radio show Guilty Pleasure on East Village Radio. “Paris” was the track I heard and been hooked since then. They describe themselves as pop, disco house, shoe gaze. I guess I am alright with that. You be the judge.

Lets wind down with some good rock/indie music. No matter how much I love crazy electronic punk dance music I have a special place for those indie acts that just have a wholesome thing about them. The Envy Corps is exactly one of those bands. Keys To Good Living almost sounds like a Radiohead B-Side to The Bends. Check em out!

The Kooks, Konk!

Filed under: Uncategorized — seysomething @ 6:57 am

The Kooks who took the name from the Bowie song Kooks are another great UK band in a long extensive group of UK bands. “Konk” which was recorded at Konk Studios is their sophomore album and sounds great. I can’t wait when Spring really hits, windows all down and this album playing. Who knows it might last until summer. I have a few songs from the album below so enjoy while they are there. The album isn’t out yet and I will have to take them down.

Sondre Lerche In Real Life + Throwback Y’all!?

Filed under: 90's, Belly, Dan In Real Life, Sondre Lerche, The Simpsons — seysomething @ 6:53 am

I recently saw Dan In Real Life and the whole soundtrack was done by Sondre Lerche. They have some songs thrown in their that aren’t by him like Earth Wind and Fire’s September during a real cheese part of the movie. It was a cheesy movie, but I like Steve Carell so I’ll give it to him. I love Sondre Lerche and had no idea so I was shocked. It made parts of the movie better than they should have been and the key points very good. They also have him perform at the end of the movie. Great job!

Do you remember Belly? No not that movie with all the hip hoppers. I mean Belly who I never saw but had the privilege of being told that a friend of mine had seen like 7 times. Well this here is throwback number one of many to come. Both tracks below are from the 1993 album Star. 90’s in their prime. If you don’t like it then eat my shorts.

DANGER! NEW REMIX! KAYNE WEST! ESTELLE!

Go to Danger’s MySpace to hear the new remix DANGER has up. It is for Estelle’s American Boy Ft. Kanye West. This re-working is so dark and bad ass. It’s the first Danger remix I know of and it’s pretty awesome. The original is pretty good, but the last 2 minutes are such a great track on it’s own. Danger really set the bar for himself and he better keep it up. Turning Kanye West into a robot by the end of the song and Estelle coming back in like she never left is so good. Oh wait.. you can just get the 320kbps version below.

Does It Offend Pitchfork, Yeah?

Filed under: Does It Offend You Yeah, Pitchfork — seysomething @ 8:08 am

Tom Ewing can really bite it. I have been listening to Does It Offend You, Yeah? for a better part of the last year and a half. Let’s Make Out, We Are Rockstars, Battle Royale… geez! These songs have had me hooked with not being the same electro bullshit that has been circulating for the last year and a half. The album finally dropped tentatively titled, “You Have No Idea What You Are Getting Yourself Into”, considering they were fucking around on myspace not too long ago. Now they have gone across the world and toured everywhere playing some huge venues along the way. To give the bands new album a 2.3 really does make Pitchfork look like some fucking idiots. The album isn’t solid gold and out of ten I would definitely give it at least a high 7, but not a 2.3. Assholes.

New Mix Cuming Soon.

Filed under: Mix Something Volume One, Sey Something, Seyran, Wham — seysomething @ 8:32 am March 24, 2008

Hey guys! I have a new mix that should be up within the week. I didn’t think it would be up so soon, but I was working on some things and WHAM! New mix.

I will be editing this one this time so I don’t have to mention the parts I messed up on. I was thinking maybe you guys can design a cover for it and I will throw up the designs on the page once everything is said and done.

It has to include the following:

1. S E Y SOMETHING.
2. M I X SOMETHING VOL 2.
3. Whatever the hell else you want.
4. Make sure it’s a good size.
5. Sey Something and Mix Something Vol 2 can be done anyway you like.

Enjoy!

For the time being why not check out my first mix ever. (no editing done)

Who else remembers The Anniversary?

Dri or for some who remember The Anniversary, Adrianne’s first debut is out now and has been for awhile. She really does have a great voice and a very chill vibe. Check her out. She is on the same label, Rangelife Records, as Justin Roelofs her old band mate from The Anniversary who also have a album of unreleased songs coming this year. The Official date is June 24th which was always a favorite day of mine. The last day of school of the year. Check them both out below. I miss The Anniversary… They did have a update on the site recently March 18th:

Hey gang,

The wheels are in motion for the Anniversary CD. Looks like it’s going to be a double-disc with about 22 tracks on it. The CD’s will be labeled PRE-DANB (Designing a Nervous Breakdown) and POST-DANB. The album title has yet to be figured out.

As far as merch goes…..check out www.theanniversary.net. Blue Collar Distro has created some new designs for sale for everyone.

The album has a tentative release date of June 24th!

Peace out,
Janko

They have new/old t-shirts!
