The clock strikes 12 and six men enter the stage in complete darkness. They are here to blow our minds with a rock opera that will keep you dancing until the Blood Moon sets. It’s the night of the week where you force yourself out of bed, and it is worth it. People were dancing! New York I knew you had it in you. It looked like most of the people at Hiro were there for Apes and Androids. I didn’t stick around for Devlin and Darko because I had work in the morning. The set lasted a full hour and included confetti explosions, glow sticks, dancers in costumes and some bad ass keyboard solos that would melt your face off.
I picked up a copy of the album while I was there and I am regretting not getting a shirt, but I wouldn’t wear it anyway. Next stop tonight is to see Blonde Acid Cult at Le Royale for Robot Rock.

This is officially my favorite website to ever grace the internets. Stuff White People Like has so many facts on white people and the way they react to everyday situations. It’s hilarious and I know everyone will love this.
Covering topics like, Mos Def, moving to Canada, Marijuana, Asian Girls, Barack Obama, having black friends…etc. The second you jump into this site you will be hooked. The thing about the site that fascinates me are it’s 3 million + hits in a little less than 2 months of posts. With 75 posts under it’s belt it’s already good enough to be a book which I predict will eventually happen. PLEASE GO TO THE SITE!
Here is a excerpt from the post about Indie Music (it fits with this blog):
“A white person’s iPod (formerly CD collection) is not merely an assemblage of music that they enjoy. It is what defines them as a person. They are always on the look out for the latest hot band that no one has heard of so that one day, they can hit it just right and be into a band BEFORE they are featured in an Apple commercial. To a white person, being a fan of a band before they get popular is one of the most important things they can do with their life. They can hold it over their friends forever!
“If you mention a band you like and the other person has heard of them, you lose. They own you. It is essential that you like the most obscure music possible.”
Believe me! This is all the website is. In fact stop coming here and just go there from now on.
My good friend Marcus is playing this Friday at Robot Rock with his band Blonde Acid Cult.
With a little bit of soul mixed into their rock band they are a freedom from the new wave scene. It’s a breath of fresh air that helps you remember why rock n roll was and always will be the best. If you like Velvet Underground it will spark some interest. Check em out! I will be there to support the band so come on out. Why not check out the track below?
PS Don’t forget to check them out April 4th when they play at RUFF CLUB @ The Annex! P.S.S Did anyone hear the new Janet Jackson song where she sampled Daft Punk? Do me a favor and DON’T! It’s a fucking mess.
The flyer was made by my good friend Ryan Von Fischer. Come out and dance! It’s going to be a lot of fun I guarantee it. I will be drinking so you know it will. Once again I will post the link to his 35 minute mix.
The Human Giant starring Aziz Ansari, Rob Huebel, and Paul Scheer is coming back for a second season March 11th on MTV (YUCK). This show has featured a handful of great alternative comedians from Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn and many more. The new season looks ridiculous and I can’t wait! Covering such controversial topics like cutting of genitals and making weird faces. They also make a point to bring up that in season one they used one gallon of blood, but in season two they used six. Do the math! That said this is going to be the bloodiest season yet! Check out the trailer for the new season below. The new season features David Cross (Mr. Show) and Will Arnett (Arrested Development, Let’s Go To Prison) who are two of my favorite comedians. Enjoy!
Apes and Androids a Glam/Electronic/Psychedelic mix of crap all bundled into a tight we kind of look like Bowie/we just woke up band that is amazing. The first time I saw them was for the dvd release party of Four Eyed Monsters, which they have a song featured in. The show was great and they had plenty of stage props to keep the crowd going. I can safely say you are a moron if you don’t go to this FREE show. Just RSVP at going or tell them you did. Their debut LP is called Blood Moon and is available off their website or myspace. You can get a DRM-free version for only $10. It’s worth it!!
Since I love Sweden I thought that the first real band post should involve a Swedish artist. I stumbled across Lykke Li, pronounced Licky Lee, and was hooked. Her sound definitely reminds me of Peter Bjorn and John first and then a little bit of Victoria Bergsman. I think the song is great, but the video is even better. Check it out and if you like it why not get the song too. Her debut LP Youth Novels is out now and you can catch her in the states at SXSW this year.
I have decided that every two weeks I will put up a mix. It will be songs I am currently listening to. This will be an easier way for me to work on my djing and for you to know what to listen to. A mix will be done by this Friday so keep your eyes and ears open and check back frequently.
If you like electro and dancing then get ready for a 35 minute mix by the one and onlyLove and Beats. Jeff Ramos is a long time friend of mine who is embarking on his first official djing party next week. It’s March 1st at Lounge Zen in Teaneck. Come out and dance with me (flyer to come soon). You can download the mix below.

It sounds great, download it, burn on a cd, put it on your ipod, and dance away.
If the djing isn’t enough why not check out his new show with hetero life mate Ryan Von Fischer. It’s called FHX and is “basically a parody of educational programming… the real basis behind our writing is less on how we can educate people and more about how we can piss off the other, or fuck things up.” Sounds good to me. They have 2 episodes up and with plenty more on the way it’s sure to be a hit!
I had the “Guilty Pleasure” of joining DJ Elhaam on her show of the same name, at East Village Radio. I have been listening to the show for little over a year now and she has great mixes of indie, dance-rock, brit pop and rock and roll. It’s a 2 hour set stretching from 8pm – 10pm every Monday. You can see the set from that night one her blog Retarded Fantasy. I played a new Ghosthustler demo you can download below. New Neon Neon track Raquel from their forthcoming debut LP which promises to be a 80’s revival of sorts.
It was my first time djing so I was messy, but whatever. I would give my self a B+ for effort. When you go to her page you have to select the play list from 2.4.08. My set started with some Teddybears and ended with Patrick Watson.
If you go to Ghosthustler’s myspace page you can hear another brand new song named “Someone Else’s Ride”. The song can only be described as something along the lines of Knight Rider. This should be the theme song for the comeback of the 80’s classic.
